Amethysts have long been a favourite choice for a gemstone pendant. Amethyst gemstones are widely available in varying colours and qualities.

Brazilian amethysts are acknowledged to be the best quality stones having wonderful colour saturation and evenness, brilliance and clarity. Top quality, clear gems such as these are expensive but beautiful and create the most stunning pendants.

However, there are other amethysts available which are included and are valued for their dense colour and individuality. These gemstones are often uncut (cabochons), checker cut or tumble cut and are usually large in size. These amethysts make a very affordable pendant.

Amethysts can be pink, lilac, lavender or deep purple in colour.
